Barca Win Classico and Liga

What happened?

On Sunday night, FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2 – 0 at the Camp Nou. This match was called “El Clásico”. El Clásico is the name for the football game between Barcelona and Real Madrid. It is one of the most famous games in world football.

With this win, Barcelona won the La Liga title for the 2025/26 season. It is their 29th Spanish league title.

They now have 14 more points than Real Madrid, with only three games left to play.

The goals

Both goals came in the first 18 minutes of the match.

In the 9th minute, Marcus Rashford scored from a free kick. Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid fouled Ferran Torres outside the box. Rashford then took the free kick and curled the ball over the wall and into the top corner of the net. The goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, could not save it.

Nine minutes later, Barcelona scored again. Dani Olmo did a clever back-heel pass to Ferran Torres. Torres ran into the box and shot the ball past Courtois. The score was 2 – 0.

The rest of the match

In the second half, Real Madrid tried to score. Jude Bellingham put the ball into the net, but the referee said it was offside. The goal did not count. Vinícius Júnior also had a chance, but the Barcelona goalkeeper, Joan García, made a good save.

Barcelona could have scored more goals. Rashford had another chance, but Courtois made a great save. Robert Lewandowski also tried to score, but the goalkeeper saved his shot too.

The final score was 2 – 0 to Barcelona.

After the match

The Barcelona fans celebrated their team winning the title. The manager, Hansi Flick, was happy with his team. It was a sad day too, because Flick’s father had died the same day. Both teams wore black armbands and the stadium was silent for one minute before the match.

Real Madrid finished the season with no trophies. Their manager, Álvaro Arbeloa, said his team must learn from this season and work harder next year.
