Bowie on Target for Verona

Serie A | 8 March 2026

The Match

Today, Hellas Verona travelled to Bologna for a Serie A match. It was a very exciting game, and Verona won 2–1. This was a surprise result because Bologna had much more of the ball during the match.

The first half was quite quiet. There were no goals, but both teams received yellow cards. Verona got a yellow card in the 16th minute, and Bologna got one in the 40th minute. Verona received another yellow card just two minutes later, in the 42nd minute.

The second half was very dramatic. Bologna scored first in the 49th minute to take the lead. But Verona responded very quickly. They equalised just four minutes later, in the 53rd minute. Then, only four minutes after that, in the 57th minute, Verona scored again to take the lead. Three goals in just eight minutes!

After that, both teams made several substitutions, but the score did not change. Verona held on and won the game 2–1.

The Statistics

The numbers tell an interesting story. Bologna dominated possession — they had the ball for 63% of the match, while Verona only had it for 37%. Bologna also had more shots: 19 total, compared to Verona's 13. However, Verona were more clinical — they scored 2 goals from 4 shots on target, while Bologna only scored 1 goal from 2 shots on target.

Verona committed many more fouls — 17, compared to Bologna's 5. Verona were also caught offside 4 times.

Summary

Even though Bologna controlled the game, Verona were very effective. They scored two goals in less than ten minutes and defended well for the rest of the match. It was a big win for Verona, and a disappointing day for Bologna at home.
