Lecce travelled to the Arena Garibaldi tonight and produced a disciplined, effective performance to beat Pisa 2-1. The visitors were the better team for most of the game, despite having less of the ball. They scored twice in a short space of time in the second half and then defended strongly to hold on for a crucial three points.
The first half was quiet and quite even. Pisa had more possession and tried to build attacks, but Lecce's organised defence made it difficult for the home side to create clear chances. There were no goals before the break, though Pisa picked up a yellow card in added time — a sign of the frustration they were beginning to feel.

The match came alive early in the second half. On 52 minutes, Lecce broke forward and scored to take the lead. It was a well-taken goal, and it changed the atmosphere in the stadium immediately. But Pisa responded quickly and impressively — just four minutes later, on 56 minutes, they equalised to make it 1-1. The crowd was back on their side, and it seemed as though Pisa might go on to win.
However, Lecce showed great character. Only nine minutes after equalising, Pisa conceded again. On 65 minutes, Lecce scored their second goal to go 2-1 ahead. The goal came just one minute after a Pisa substitution, which suggests the home team were trying to change the game — but the change did not work as planned.
The final 25 minutes were tense. Pisa pushed hard for another equaliser, making several more substitutions and winning corners, but Lecce's goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone was excellent — he made six saves in total throughout the match. Pisa had 15 shots compared to Lecce's seven, but they could not find a way through. Tempers rose towards the end, with yellow cards for both sides in the final ten minutes.
In the end, Lecce fully deserved their win. They were efficient — they needed only seven shots to score twice — while Pisa, despite all their possession and pressure, could not convert their chances. It was a classic example of an away side playing smart football and punishing a home team that was unable to finish.
