The Match
Yesterday, Real Madrid played against Villarreal at home in Madrid. Real Madrid won the match 3-1. This was an important game because Real Madrid wanted to forget their bad result from last week. They lost 5-2 to Atlético Madrid, so they needed to win this match.
First Half
In the first half, both teams tried to score but nobody scored a goal. Real Madrid had some good chances. Kylian Mbappé tried to score but the Villarreal goalkeeper, Arnau Tenas, made a good save. He stopped the ball.
Villarreal also had one very good chance before half-time. Their player Oluwaseyi ran very fast towards the goal. He was alone with only the goalkeeper in front of him. But Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, made an excellent save. He stopped the shot and saved his team.
The first half finished 0-0. No goals yet.
Second Half
After half-time, Real Madrid played much better. Just two minutes after the second half started, Vinícius Júnior scored the first goal! He shot from the left side and the ball changed direction when it hit a Villarreal player. The goalkeeper could not stop it. Real Madrid were winning 1-0.
Real Madrid continued to attack. They wanted more goals. In the 69th minute, a Villarreal player pushed Vinícius in the penalty area. The referee gave a penalty kick to Real Madrid. Vinícius took the penalty kick himself and scored! Now Real Madrid were winning 2-0. This was Vinícius's second goal of the match.
The Final Minutes
Villarreal did not give up. They scored a goal when Mikautadze shot and the ball went into the goal. Now the score was 2-1. Villarreal had hope again!
But then something bad happened for Villarreal. Their player Mouriño got a red card. The referee sent him off the field. Now Villarreal had only 10 players, and Real Madrid had 11 players.
With more space on the field, Real Madrid scored again. Mbappé received a pass from Brahim Díaz and scored the third goal. Real Madrid were winning 3-1. But after scoring, Mbappé hurt his ankle and had to leave the match. Another player, Rodrygo, came on to replace him.
The match finished 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Important Information
This was a very good result for Real Madrid. They are now at the top of the Spanish league table. Vinícius Júnior was the best player in the match with two goals. Mbappé also played very well and scored in his ninth game in a row for Real Madrid and France.
Real Madrid will be happy with this win. Now they have a break because of international matches. They will play again in two weeks.
