Former Italian coach Fabio Capello thinks that Inter Milan is the best team from Serie A to do well in the Champions League. He also says that Atalanta might surprise everyone in the 2024-25 season.

The Champions League group stage draw is happening next week. Capello shared his thoughts about the five Italian teams in the competition during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Capello said, "Starting well is very important because if not, it will be harder later, especially when playing against top teams in the knock-out phase."

He believes that Inter Milan, the champions of Italy, are the strongest team. They have shown their strength before, and even though they need to play with more energy, Capello is sure they will perform well this year. The loss in the 2023 Champions League Final should motivate them to try even harder.

Bookmakers also think Inter Milan is the best Italian team in the Champions League. But there are four more Italian clubs in the competition, and fans are eager to see how they will do.

AC Milan reached the semi-finals in 2023, but they didn't do well in the group stage last year. Capello thinks the new signings will make Milan a stronger team, especially in physical strength and mentality. He hopes they will improve in the midfield.

Juventus is back in the Champions League after missing one season. Capello sees that Juventus is still improving, but he likes that the coach trusts young players. He also hopes that striker Vlahovic will score more goals this season.

Atalanta has added a new player, Raoul Bellanova, and Capello believes they could be the underdogs. This means they might surprise everyone, even though bigger teams don’t want to play against them because they are tough. But if key players leave due to injuries, it might be difficult for them.
