Al Ahli has signed England footballer Ivan Toney from Brentford, a team in the English Premier League.
The Saudi Arabian club announced the deal on Saturday. Toney, who is 28 years old, has signed a contract until 2028.
Toney will join other strong players at Al Ahli like Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Feras Al Buraikan. Al Ahli started the new season with one win and one loss in their first two games.
Toney was very successful in the 2022-23 Premier League season, scoring 20 goals. He was the third-highest scorer, only behind Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. In total, he scored 69 goals in 128 league games for Brentford.
Before Brentford, Toney played for Newcastle United, Wigan Athletic, and Peterborough United. He made his debut for the England national team in March 2023 and scored his first goal for England one year later. He also played in the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, helping England reach the semi-finals.
Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, said it was a pleasure to work with Toney. He praised Toney for his goals, leadership, and hard work, calling him a Brentford legend.
Toney might play his first game for Al Ahli on September 13, against Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, Al Nassr.
