The Match
Last night, Bayern Munich played against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Paris, France. It was an exciting Champions League match. Bayern Munich won 2-1. This was a very important win because PSG are the defending champions. This means PSG won the Champions League last year.
Bayern Munich now has 16 wins this season. They have not lost any match yet. This is amazing!

First Half - Bayern Dominates
The first half was very good for Bayern Munich. They played much better than PSG. Luis Díaz was the star player for Bayern in the first half.
Díaz scored the first goal after only four minutes. Michael Olise shot the ball, but the PSG goalkeeper stopped it. However, Díaz was there and scored from the rebound. Bayern were winning 1-0 very quickly.
Bayern continued to attack. They were very strong and fast. Serge Gnabry hit the post with his shot. This means the ball hit the side of the goal but did not go in. Bayern were very unlucky not to score more goals.
After 30 minutes, Díaz scored again! He took the ball from Marquinhos, a PSG defender. Then he ran forward and scored. Now Bayern were winning 2-0. Díaz was having a perfect match.
But then something bad happened. Just before half-time, Díaz made a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi. A tackle is when you try to take the ball from another player. The referee first gave Díaz a yellow card. But then the referee watched the video replay. He changed his decision and gave Díaz a red card instead.
A red card means Díaz had to leave the match. Bayern had to play the second half with only 10 players instead of 11. This made the match very difficult for Bayern.
Also in the first half, PSG lost their best player. Ousmane Dembélé got injured and could not continue playing. Dembélé won the Ballon d'Or award this year. The Ballon d'Or is given to the best football player in the world. Losing Dembélé was very bad for PSG.
Second Half - Bayern Defends
The second half was completely different. PSG attacked a lot because Bayern only had 10 players. Bayern had to defend and try to keep their 2-0 lead.
Vincent Kompany is the Bayern manager. At half-time, he made a substitution. He took off Serge Gnabry and brought on Tom Bischof. Bayern changed their tactics to defend better.
PSG kept attacking. They had many chances to score. But Manuel Neuer, the Bayern goalkeeper, was excellent. Neuer is 39 years old, but he played like a young goalkeeper. He made many great saves. He stopped the ball again and again.
After 74 minutes, PSG finally scored! João Neves, a substitute player, scored with a volley. A volley is when you kick the ball while it is in the air. Lee Kang-in crossed the ball from the right side, and Neves kicked it into the goal. Now the score was 2-1. PSG had hope!
PSG continued to attack. They wanted to score another goal to make it 2-2. Bayern's defenders worked very hard. Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, and Konrad Laimer all made important tackles and blocks to stop PSG.
The last 15 minutes were very exciting and tense. PSG had more shots, but Neuer saved them all. Neves had another chance with a header, but the ball went wide. This means it went past the side of the goal.
Finally, the referee blew the whistle. The match was finished. Bayern Munich won 2-1!
Key Players
Luis Díaz (Bayern Munich) - He scored both goals for Bayern, but then got a red card. It was an amazing and terrible first half for him at the same time. This was the first time in Champions League history that a player scored two goals and got a red card in the same half.
Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) - The 39-year-old goalkeeper was the man of the match. He made eight saves. Without Neuer, Bayern would have lost the match.
Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich) - The French defender was excellent in the second half. He stopped many PSG attacks.
João Neves (PSG) - He came on as a substitute and scored PSG's only goal. He played well and gave PSG hope.
What This Means
This was a huge result for Bayern Munich. They showed they are very strong this season. Even with only 10 players, they defended very well and won against the champions.
For PSG, this was disappointing. They are the defending champions, but they could not beat 10-man Bayern at home. PSG now have their first loss in the Champions League this season.
Bayern Munich are now at the top of the Champions League table. They will play Arsenal next in three weeks. However, Luis Díaz will miss that match because of his red card. He will probably be suspended for three matches.
This win makes Bayern Munich one of the favorites to win the Champions League this season. Their 16-game winning streak is incredible!
